The world as a whole cannot truly advance while half of its people lay behind in poverty. Our struggles are nothing but a part of our daily uphill battles; we do not simply stand at the sidelines, but we cheer amongst the people we serve. And we thank each of them for sharing their lives so that we can show you, the reader, small fragments of their personal victories. No matter where we live, the stakes are high indeed, and the tasks are urgent We overcome struggles... equiped by the very foundation of one love, that is to serve the humanity, we are here to stay, making a stand... making a difference ! ! !

In the year 1987, moved by the sufferings seen among the marginalized sectors of the Philippine society, a group of spiritually-minded and service-oriented individuals, all members of the universal organization ANANDA MARGA, came together to conduct informal welfare activities for the less fortunates of the Filipino people in Davao City. They provided welfare programs such as massfeedings for malnourished children, free medical and dental clinics for depressed areas, relief assistance for victims of calamities, and housing for the homeless. Formalizing the efforts and establishing assemblance of professionalism, the group decided to form an organization that will provide assistance and services to low-income peoples in many depressed areas of the City. Thus, the birth of BABA'S FOUNDATION, INCORPORATED.
The name Baba is a Sanskrit word which means "Beloved" or "the Father", and is the universal name given by the followers to Shrii Shrii Anandamurti or Prabhat Rainjan Sarkar, the founder of Ananda Marga. Inspired by the works and teachings of Baba, and believing that all services rendered to humanity with pure intentions are services rendered to the Lord, hence adhering the motto "Service to Humanity is Service to God", Baba's Foundation was then organized in honor of Baba and in service to the rest of humanity.
The Foundation was duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on April 05, 1988 as a private, non-profit, non-stock social development agency with registration number 01204. Since its formal organization, BFI has proven itself in terms of organizational growth and in the delivery of services to the sectors of society it has pledge to serve.
Years of struggles and success has been a significant transitions of developments for the foundation. Transmitting more than just development and social service programs, hence, forsees the development of the needy populace of the country into more productive and self-reliant communities through the provision of services that will train, develop, and improve the capabilities of our people to engage in productive enterprise.
Baba's Foundation, IncORPORATED ---realizes it still has a long way to go to attain its vision of improving the quality of life of the marginalized sectors of society. But it has definitely touched a number of lives of the poor in the communities it has served, have given them hope for a better future, and an impetus to live in a better world everyone must help build.
The old Building of BABA'S FOUNDATION, INC., inaugurated on April 05, 1988. " Do all the good you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can." - P.R. Sarkar

FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

|
" A small nipa hut for an office, a small staff of only 1 full time and 2 volunteers, a small budget of less than P 10,000.00 per month ". This is the situation Baba's Foundation Incorporated is facing when it started in the year 1988. Now, after more than 14 years, BFI has grown and is continually growing, to fulfill its mission of "Service to Human is Service to God".
The year 2002 marked another fruitful period for BFI's selfless service and dedication to societal transformation. Our commitment to improve the quality of life of the marginal sectors we are serving has always been steadfastly burning and consistently alive. The many lives we have touched, the many faces that came alive with smiles of gratitute, the many families that were united in the struggle to achieve a better life, the many communities that lived in solidarity with other communities to create a better world to live in, they all spoke of BFI's continuing legacy of "Making a Difference".
The strong partnerships, not only with our local and international funding donors, but with equal importance, also with growing number of individuals and communities whose lives we have helped transformed, have contributed to the meaningful existence of BFI after all these years. We are pleased and proud to see the expansion and successes of our various development initiatives, in the particular feilds of Cooperative Development and Institution Building, Micro-Finance, Integrated Marketing, Enterprise Development and Livelihood, Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental Resource Management, Gender and Children's Rights Advocacy, and Early Childhood Care and Development. I would like to particularly attribute the satisfactory achievements of the Foundation to the dynamism and hard work of its officers and staff, and to the active involvement and guidance of its Board of Trustees.
With the commitment and dedication of all members of the BFI Family, of our partners, supporters and donors, we know we will continue to sail on and " Make a Difference! ". "BFI CONTINUES TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE"

In this ever changing world not a day pass that someone and somewhere, there is always a large number of our people in need and are suffering from social injustices and caught in deep arms of poverty. It is in this simple manifestation of gratitude that we would like to convey the sincerest thanks and appreciation for the help and assistance our funding partners have extended in order to continue the mission that we lived for in our daily upheavals.
These group of kind-hearted people, extended their vision of a
better world for all the humanity so that we, altogether can shape the world, and
continue making a BIG DIFFERENCE ! |
