Humanity, is Service to God
We realize we still has a long way to go to attain its vision of improving the
quality of life of the marginalized sectors of society. But we have definitely
touched a number of lives of the poor in the communities we have served. We have
given them hope for a better future, and an impetus to live in a better world
that everyone must help build.
Our History
In the year 1987, moved by the sufferings seen among the marginalized
sectors of the Philippine society, a group of spiritually-minded and
service-oriented individuals, all members of the universal organization ANANDA
MARGA, came together to conduct informal welfare activities for the less
fortunate of the Filipino people in Davao City. They provided welfare programs
such as mass feedings for malnourished children, free medical and dental clinics
for depressed areas, relief assistance for victims of calamities, and housing
for the homeless. Formalizing the efforts and the group decided to form a
professional organization that would provide assistance and services to low-income peoples in many depressed areas of the City. Thus, the birth of BABA’S FOUNDATION, INCORPORATED.
Early founders
The name Baba is a Sanskrit word which means “Beloved” or “the Father”, and is the universal name given by the followers to Shrii Shrii Anandamurti or Prabhat Rainjan Sarkar, the founder of Ananda Marga. Inspired by the works and teachings of Baba, and believing that all services rendered to humanity with pure intentions are services rendered to the Lord, hence adhering the motto “Service to Humanity is Service to God”, Baba’s Foundation was then organized in honor of Baba and in service to the rest of humanity.
